— LEGAL FRAMEWORK

Legal framework

Since the entry into force of the Skilled Immigration Act (FEG) in 2020, the entry of qualified third-country nationals to take up employment — from nursing through engineering and IT to the skilled trades — has been regulated in a structured and accelerated way. Tunisian professionals benefit from an established procedural route via the German Embassy in Tunis.

The fast-track skilled-worker procedure under § 81a AufenthG allows the visa to be issued within a defined time window. This requires professional recognition initiated in advance as well as a binding job offer from a German institution.

The professional recognition is carried out according to state-law requirements through the recognition authority responsible in the federal state where the employment is to be taken up — through different authorities depending on the profession. We accompany the application and assist with any adaptation measures. For qualified professionals with work experience, the Opportunity Card can also be an alternative route to Germany. The EU Blue Card is likewise an option for correspondingly qualified professionals.
